During
their last year at school students should have quite a clear picture of their
education and career plans. The objective of this exercise is to help students conceptualize
those plans, make them visible, and indicate the next concrete steps they need
to take to enter the education and career path after school.
First, the
purpose is to describe informally what kind of plans students have after
school. They can write about their dreams, expectations and tentative plans on
a notebook sheet provided. If some students already have definite plans for their
future education, My Study Plan will guide them to search for relevant
information regarding the application process, and therefore help them be well
prepared in advance. It is highly recommended to guide students to have more
than one option for their study plans, at least Option 2 in addition to Option
1. The more doors they have open for future, the better.
Instead of
applying to education or training program, some students may be planning to
look for a job and work right after school. For these students My Work Plan
will help planning their next steps in job searching.
Lastly, it
is advisable to encourage students to think what other options they may have in
case they don’t get accepted to a training program they applied to or find a
job. For instance, are there any related fields they could consider as a back-up
plan?
