Practices

Mr. Kong Sintha is working as a driver, office assistant and sometimes as interpreter.

Practical counseling aims are to
  • help students increase their knowledge about themselves: about their personality, feelings, likes and interests, and recognize a network of people who can support them in their everyday lives at school and at home, or in building their future.
  • encourage students to express their dreams for future - both for life and career: What aspects in working life and career are important to them, what helps them to achieve their dream job, and what do their need to learn to achieve their goals?
  • lead students to see learning as a life-long process and define themselves as learners, and encourage students to pay attention to life management skills supporting and enabling learning.
  • inspire students to identify their strengths, skills and good characteristics, and discover how weak points can be developed through learning and practicing.
  • guide students to realize all the relevant aspects influencing their after-school plans, discover their current interests and identify some tentative career options, gather information about education and training required in their future career, and indicate the next steps they need to take to enter their education and career path after school.
These can be implemented by
  • classroom counseling (lessons),
  • individual face-to-face counseling,
  • face-to-face counseling in small groups,
  • inviting guest speakers to school
  • organizing field trips for students to visit surrounding community, further education and local business life,
  • networking within own school and arrange meetings with parents or guardians involving career counseling,
